Thinking and talking about change is only one part of transformation.
And I want transformation for you.
It's the time of year when many of us think and talk about resolutions that reveal our deepest desires for how we want our lives to be.
But if you want lasting transformation, you need to go beyond resolutions to an embodied approach to change.
You need to remove any conditioning, wounds, and/or trauma that stand in your way.
You have to create new neural pathways and disable the old ones.
You have to create a deep embodiment of a new reality.
To do these things you have to involve the mind AND the body — you have to address all three parts of the brain, your body, your sensations, and your emotions.
True transformation comes, my little caterpillar, when the mind and body are aligned in clarity of purpose to reveal your authentic self.
That’s how you THRIVE.
So when you think about your new year's resolution and perhaps feel that twinge in your stomach that translates into doubt and uncertainty, follow these steps:
STEP 1: SAY IT
Activate your brain by stating your intention out loud. This brings the cortex online, which is the logical, rational part of your brain.
STEP 2: FEEL IT OUT
Let yourself feel the embodiment of your resolution with your external senses. Imagine what you see, what you feel, what you taste, what you touch, and what you hear once you've achieved your resolution for 2017. This activates the limbic system, which is the part of the brain that feels and controls emotions.
STEP 3: FEEL IT IN
Go inside the body to your sensations. Continue to feel into the embodiment of your intention, and notice if your chest feels filled with light and love and if you feel open and warm. These are signs the primal part of your brain is ready to embrace transformation.
If you feel tightness or tension as a sign of resistance, it's because your brain hasn't created a neural pattern or structure yet to believe change is possible.
You may need to clear conditioning, thoughts, and beliefs you have that stand in the way of your body and mind activating long-lasting transformation. If this is the case and you want help clearing, I'd be happy to work with you.
STEP 4: SHARE IT
Finally, let your family and friends know you'll be transforming in 2017 so you can feel supported. This will reassure your primal brain that it's safe to change, and that when you emerge, you'll be welcomed with love.
